OSPW’S BACKSTAGE RAIGE

By T.Raige

Hello OSPW Fans – Unbelievable things have been happening in OSPW! – once again another sold out show – The Emperor of Old School (Rise to Royalty) tournament was very intense from start to finish but the main thing I want to mention here is the BREAKING NEWS about Rex Atkins – (at press time Rex has suffered from a broken femur bone in his leg due to a car accident), there fore at

Awakening 4 {Rise To Royalty}

Rex Atkins  Surrendered his Title because of the injuries he suffered in the accident.

Making money, spending money.

Whatever gets the job done!

 Where else have you wrestled?

City? State? Province? Country? EVERYWHERE

What wrestlers would you like to compete against in OSPW or elsewhere?

Nobody's in my league. I wouldn't mind slapping Shadokat around.

Who was your favorite tag-team partner?

Troy Buchanon

What titles have you held/what title do you have your sights set on?

OSPW Tag Team, OSPW New York and it doesn't really matter what title I

"OSPW'S BACKSTAGE RAIGE"

By T.Raige

Hello OSPW Fans - The Raige Report is long gone - out with the old, in with the new. I've decided to use my page on the web here to bring the OSPW Fans what they've really been asking for - interviews with the OSPW Talent. I decided to do a series of interviews which will be posted every 3 weeks w/several of the OSPW stars. So let's get to it

This month's interview is from one of the most important players in any Match, the referee. Referees are in the middle of every scenario. They Literally have the hardest job in this business. If it weren't for the Eyes and ears of the referee's we wouldn't come to enjoy matches the way we do. Ref's are trained for certain "situations" in and outside of the ring, they are not trained pro-wrestlers yet they have taken hits harder than an average person by just being in the wrong part of the ring at the wrong time. Such is the case when a wrestler collides into them, butts heads with them, gets shoved by them, or literally becomes an innocent victim of a wrestler's ruthless aggression when they lose their cool. So without further ado, here he is Referee Mr. Al Scott

Do you have a website?

Yes,

http://www.RefAlScott.com

I get it updated when I can. I get busy Some times and end up with not enough time to work on it. Thanks to my Friends, the fans at the shows, and other wrestlers, the website gets a Lot of promotion, and when I get behind, I hear about it.

Do you have brothers/sisters?

Yes, two of each. My oldest brother and two younger sisters live with Their, families in the Houston Texas area, and my older brother and his Family, live in the Utica NY area.

Does your family support what you do?

I believe so. My youngest sister and her kids have made it up to NY to See a show, my other sister has a couple Ref Al Scott shirts. My cousin And her family lives here in the Rochester area, and they are very Supportive.

Who got you into the wrestling business?

My Supervisor at my regular job used to tell me about taking his son to The N.E.W. shows and that got me interested in checking it out. I then Made friends with a couple of the wrestlers, mentioned how I had always Wanted to do something in Wrestling, then had the owner of N.E.W. ask if I wanted to train to be a manager, valet, or ref. It took a few months to talk myself into it, but I decided to give it a try, and went to my first training at the DEN just abut 2 years ago. My Ref debut was in January of 2007 at an N.E.W. show in North Tonawanda.

Who did you train under?

My Ref trainer and mentor is Ref Jonathan Ashe, and the main trainers From the DEN is Johnny Swift and Superbeast, but I got a lot of good Guidance and advice from others there, including Billy Foxx, Chance Taylor and even Kriptic. I like to say that I learned from everyone I have worked with, and every fed I have worked for. There really is no end to this type of training.

Where else have you Refereed?

Wow, a lot of places. I have a list on my My Space, http://www.myspace.com/ref_al_scott but I have worked for N.E.W., OSPW, UW, 2CW all in the WNY area. I have worked for 3 other feds in NY including one on Long Island, a couple of feds in Canada, there are 3 feds in Vermont, 3 in PA, one in OH, and I have even Refereed in Texas last March.

What is your workout routine?

Working a lot of feds! With the schedule I currently have with my regular job, I don't get down to the DEN like I'd like to. I used to go, stretch out, and do some chain, but really, just ref whatever they had going on.

What was your favorite match you've been in?

I have been fortunate to work with a bunch of great people, and meet and learn from some great names. From a learning standpoint, probably RYOT v Sandman at N.E.W. From the fun side, Johnny Swift and Al Snow v Jerry Lynn and Jerrelle Clark, also at N.E.W. From a fan perspective, Billy Foxx v Chance Taylor at OSPW.

What is your dream match?

I honestly can't think of one, unless it was Maybe Ivory or Victoria v Molly Holly.

What's next for you in this business?

I do not know. I have done so much in my brief career, more than others In my position. I know that I am not ever going to work the big feds, for nothing else other than being too big and too old. That was one of the first things told to me at the DEN that made me really want to work as hard as I could, because I was told I would never be able to do this because I was too tall, too fat, and too old. I guess I showed them. I have thought about taking time off to learn the business side of the business, so that I could continue to help grow Indy Wrestling. "No definitive plans as of yet"

What advice do you have for newcomers to the sport?

Don't take this the wrong way, TRAIN, KEEP YOUR EARS OPEN AND YOUR MOUTH SHUT, and RESPECT THE BUSINESS. As often as you can, work out in the ring, get your ring presence, get your bearings, get comfortable in There. Even if it is two new trainees learning to lock up, Trust me, it Will help you, and believe it or not, it will help the trainees get used to it too. Listen to the vets, listen to the names, ask questions, and watch the other ref's. Respect the vets, respect the names, and respect the locker room. One thing I have seen happen to others, you can have all the talent in the world, but if you screw up in someone else's locker room, you will not be asked back, and chances are, no one from your home fed will be considered in the future. There are many guys out there who learned that lesson the hard way, and blew their chance before they got to enjoy it.

Who is your favorite singles wrestler?

I have no "favorite", there are a few I really like to work with or Watch. Nick Paradise and Kriptic are two that come to mind. HC Loc and Jerrelle Clark are "names" I can watch on a regular basis, I love working with them.

Who is your favorite tag-team?

Ring Crew Express were a GREAT team, I loved them.

Would you say you prefer the style of a technical wrestler, brawler, Aerial, or something else altogether?

I grew up watching Houston Wrestling on TV, and they were all Technical / brawler types. I remember watching Jake "the Snake", Jim Duggan, Sting, Mean Mark Callous (Undertaker now), Terry Taylor, the Von Erich's, the Free Bird's, and yes, Mr. Ric Flair, all come through that fed on a regular basis.

What is your opinion of the WWE/TNA/etc?

Honestly, TOO MANY DANG PROMOS! The booking is not always easy to follow. TNA style of wrestling is exciting but it looks choreographed at times.

Do you think wrestling should be "unionized" or do you feel it could harm the effect of getting work/ring-time?

I do not yet know. I am not exactly sure what that would mean in general. I know there has been talk (weak) about looking into having Ref's certified, not sure about that either.

It's no secret the New York State Athletic Commission makes it hard for Workers to be paid what they are worth:  What would you do to make sure wrestlers are paid properly in an Indy fed? Your thoughts

Well, first off, in my opinion, blaming the Commission for the promoter Not paying the worker is a crock. It's the promoter not paying the Worker, and it is the worker that keeps going back to work unpaid that Continues it. Each Individual Worker has an option to work or not with or without pay, they are not being forced to perform and most times they do it just for the Love of the Sport.

What's your true, honest opinion of promoters?

They have an unenviable job, a misunderstood job. The Commission "makes" them do things that are for our protection, to help keep us safe. They book us. They promote us. They allow us to sell our shirts and stuff. They allow us a ring to do what we love. We don't give them enough credit.

What's your biggest fear in wrestling?

Causing a situation where someone will get hurt.

"Next to that, is someone getting hurt because of me."

"Until Next Time"&ldots;

OSPW’S BACKSTAGE RAIGE!!!

By T.Raige

Hello OSPW Fans – The Raige Report is long gone – out with the old, in with the new. I’ve decided to use my page on the web here to bring the OSPW Fans what they’ve really been asking for – interviews with the OSPW Talent. I decided to do a series of interviews which will be posted every 3 weeks w/several of the OSPW stars. So let’s get to it.

I felt it only appropriate to start this first series of interviews with

the one-and-only OSPW Heavyweight Champion Kwan Chang. Enjoy.

 What’s your favorite food?

 Chinese (of course), Japanese, Sushi

What are your hobbies?

Martial Arts, Kickboxing, MMA, anything that involves hurting people. Listening to heavy, aggressive, music and of course weight training

What’s next for you in this business?

To be the next major Superstar in WWE, TNA or in Japan

Describe your finishing move and why you use it ?

THE NEAR DEATH EXPERIENCE is a Pumphandle Michinoku Driver. Basically I lift my victim in a pump handle up to my shoulder, turn him upside down and drive him head first into the mat. Why I use it? Because no one has ever gotten up!

I also use the DRAGON CLUTCH SUBMISSION. I turn my victim on his stomach, wrap my arm around his neck, wrench back and Choke the life out of him. Either way, Another victory, Another Helpless Victim!

Who got you into the wrestling business?

Layton Morrison, who was also my Karate Sensei.

 Who did you train under?

I trained under Layton at the Monster Factory in Canada. Also trained with the late Dewey "The Missing Link" Robertson and his son, Jason. I have also learned from greats like Al Snow, Samoa Joe, Simon Diamond and others.

 Where else have you wrestled?

I have wrestled all over Canada and parts of the US

What wrestlers would you like to compete against in OSPW or elsewhere?

Outside OSPW, I would love to face Samoa Joe, CM Punk or Low-Ki. On the OSPW roster, I'd like to face ShadoKat one on one, Rex Atkins or "Go Time" Chris Laplante, a competitor I have never faced in OSPW but we have had some great battles all over Canada.

Who was your favorite tag-team partner?

My Singapore Cane. Other than that I need no partner. I am a better singles competitor.

What titles have you held/what title do you have your sights set on?

I am the current OSPW World Champion, the current CWA World Champion and current TWA Heavyweight Champion. I have held titles in nearly every promotion I have worked for.

 Describe any details you want mentioned about yourself / any grudge match you have going on or details you want fans to know for now/future&ldots;

I am: The most Dominant Superstar in wrestling today. The most violent athlete in wrestling today. Any superstar in OSPW or anywhere else who crosses my Path Of Violence will become Another Helpless Victim! I, and the rest of M.E. have an ongoing feud with Deacon and the FALLEN

 Do you have a website?

I have a facebook Fan club Page that I keep updated with upcoming dates, results and recent photos and videos

What was your favorite match you’ve been in?

Honestly, too many to count. My Match of the Year vs Deacon,  matches against Tyger Smith, Chris LaPlante, Kryss Thorn and CK Sexx in Canada...

Do you prefer a manager or no?

I prefer having someone like Jaz Miles or Jay Moore to do my talking for me and handle my business arrangements so I can concentrate on what I do best: Winning titles and Hurting people!

 Do you have brothers/sisters?

 One sister

Does your family support what you do?

 Yes they are very supportive

What’s your true, honest opinion of promoters?

Like in any business, there are great promoters that take care of the boys and there are scumbags that I will never work for.

Do you think wrestling should be “unionized” or do you feel it could harm the effect of getting work/ring-time?

I believe the industry should police itself. The promoters should refuse to book untrained "backyard superstars". It’s up to the wrestlers themselves to market themselves so they do get booked.

 What’s your biggest fear?

No Fear! No Remorse! NO MERCY FOR THE WEAK!

Would you say your more of a technical wrestler, brawler, aerial, or something else altogether?

Strong Style Striker/Brawler. I do not do anything fancy, flashy or "cute". I go out and beat people up. It works for me.

 What is your dream match?

Either Samoa Joe, KENTA, Kobashi or CM Punk

It’s no secret the New York State Athletic Commission makes it hard for workers to be paid what they are worth: What would you do to make sure wrestlers are paid properly in an indy fed? Your thoughts.

Its up to the wrestler to make him or herself "worth the money". Why should a promoter pay you top dollar if you cant draw a crowd? Make yourself the guy whose face on the poster make fans pay money to see you!

What advice do you have for newcomers to the sport?

Develop your body, look, persona, in ring ability, and mic skills. Market yourself Make yourself unique, different from the rest. Make the fans remember YOU Look like a Pro Wrestler (Muscular, athletic build, wrestling tights, boots) Do what you do well, Don't do what you don't do well. Accentuate your strengths, Hide your weaknesses!

 What is your workout routine?

5 Days a week weight training

Mon-Chest

Tue-Back

Wed-Legs

Thurs-Shoulders/Traps

Fri-Biceps/Triceps

Abs in between sets

Sat and Sun I wrestle so that is my cardio

I also train and instruct in the ring once a week for 3-4 hrs

Until Next Time&ldots;.
